Tipsy Hill is an extensive, captivating Mediterranean inspired garden set high on a hill and surrounded by vineyards. Winding paths and steps link several almost secret areas with seating spots positioned to take advantage of the magnificent views. Tall pines and the numerous trees on the property shelter many bird species that call the garden home. Bougainvilleas, oleanders, cannas, flowering gums, yuccas in flower and sedums add bold colour and contrast with the varied colours of duranta, iochromas, hibiscus, plumbago, salvias, solanums and succulents with hedges adding a touch of formality. The property takes its name from the lovely 6th-century Chinese tea rose Rosa ‘Tipsy Imperial Concubine’.
