Proudly known as the ‘Rose Capital of Australia,’ Adelaide certainly lives up to that name and in recent years the Rose Society has pursued its aim of “taking roses to the people.” This year, the Rose Society’s popular Spring Rose Show will be held at South Australia’s largest regional shopping mall – Barossa Central,1 Murray Street, Nuriootpa on Saturday 18th October (12 noon to 5pm) and Sunday 19th October (9am to 4pm).
The Barossa Central mall will be filled with Rose Show competition entries and creative floral arrangements. Visitors can also get advice from rose experts! This includes learning more about rose growing, having a rose identified, inspiration for home gardens or becoming a Rose Society member.
The public (and Rose Society members who have not exhibited previously) are invited to participate in the ‘Best Rose Competition’ – Community Class* by staging their best home-grown rose blooms on Sunday 19th between 10am and noon. Bring along your roses (with stem and foliage in water) to enter your blooms ready for judging. We are hoping to see lots of entries and a kaleidoscope of colourful blooms on the bench and of course there are prizes for the winners. The public can also participate in the Rose Perfume Competition.
The Rose Show is generously supported by the management of Barossa Central with its relaxing cafés providing great food and beverages. Come and smell the roses and stay for morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea as a special treat.
